Start at 6:00 a.m. in Pucón for a guided ascent of 2,847-meter Villarrica Volcano. Expect about 1,700 meters of ascent, summit fumaroles, lake views, and a snow-toboggan descent.

Start at 6:00 am in Pucón for a roughly nine-hour ascent of Villarrica Volcano. Certified bilingual guides provide crampons, ice axe, helmet, backpack, windbreaker, and other gear. You’ll hike toward the open crater, then descend by snow slide when snow and volcanic conditions permit.
“The tour agency that was on the Viator website does not exist, is out of business. As the hike drew near, we were contacted by Viator to pay (which we did), and texted multiple times to the tour agency (through Viator) with questions, but never heard back. We arrived in town the night before the hike. On the day of the scheduled hike, we went to the designated meeting place—nothing/no one was there. We went to the address of the tour agency—found the building but it was obviously abandoned. Viator responded promptly to my text, said they would investigate. Ride from Antilco Horsetrekking through pastures, forest, and along the Liucura River toward a waterfall and views of Villarrica, Quetrupillan, and Lanin volcanoes. The pace builds from walking to trotting, cantering, and sometimes galloping. This four-hour route suits experienced mountain riders. Mathias and the team handle bookings and rider orientation.

From Pucón, Blas of Rutas Outdoors leads a private, medium-level trek through native forest and araucarias toward the southern side of Villarrica volcano. After about three hours on foot, you return to warm up in 20 natural pools at Geometric Baths. Transport, guide, insurance, and park entry are included.

Travel from central Pucón to Geometric Hot Springs in Villarrica National Park. You get hotel pickup, entry, and three hours to try 16 thermal pools from 35°C to 42°C, plus four cold pools. The route passes Licanray, Coñaripe, and Lake Calafquén. Transport is the main variable, so confirm your pickup carefully.

Spend four hours exploring Pucon by vehicle with a bilingual guide, stopping at the Trancura and Turbio rivers, Caburgua’s Ojos del Caburgua, the fish viewpoint, lake, and beach. Finish with two hours at thermal baths. Guides Marcelo and Rocío have received especially warm praise, but the thermal venue may not suit everyone.

From Pucón, Terravolcano takes you to the base of Lanín Volcano for a guided walk to Laguna Quillehue, Lago Escondido, and Laguna Huinfiuca. You receive boots, poles, clothing, and winter snowshoes, with Spanish, Portuguese, or English guidance. The pace is relaxed, but snow can make the route a solid workout.

Spend four hours exploring Villarrica and Pucón with a live English- or Spanish-speaking guide. Visit the Municipal Historical and Archaeological Museum, stroll the waterfront and craft market, photograph Mirador Canela, then see Pucón’s wooden flowers, O’Higgins Street, Grande Beach, La Poza, and main square.
